Such violent acts are the result of a psychological process called displacement. If a person has faced mental or physical abuse in childhood, its impact remains in the subconscious mind.

The brutal assault on a 15-month-old girl in a day-care centre in Noida has shocked the entire country. In the CCTV footage, a maid was seen slapping the girl, throwing her on the ground, biting her and even injuring her mouth with a pencil. In this case, a case has been registered against the day-care head and the said maid on the complaint of the girl's parents.
In the case of a 15-month-old girl who was brutalised by a maid, ABP Live's team spoke to psychology expert Dr Manoshree Gupta to understand the mindset of the accused and the precautions to be taken by parents. She openly discussed the reasons behind the accused maid's behaviour and ways to prevent it. She also told what guidelines the government needs to make in this direction.
Displacement and childhood trauma are the real reasons
According to experts, such violent acts are often the result of a psychological process called displacement. If a person has faced mental, physical abuse or domestic violence in childhood, its effect remains in the subconscious mind. When such people get a chance, they vent out their anger and pain on a weak or insecure person, like in this case, on the girl. Such behavior is a very reprehensible crime and is an example of the moral degradation of our society.
How can parents stay alert?
Doctors say that if parents spend time with their children after returning from daycare, they can identify any unusual changes. The child suddenly becomes quiet and scared. Starts getting scared of strangers. Play habits change or stops playing. Sticks to parents. Refuses to go to daycare. Cries or his eating-drinking and sleeping routine gets disturbed. These can be signs that the child has suffered some kind of harassment at daycare or elsewhere.
The first three years of a child are extremely important
Experts warned that the first three years of a child's life are extremely delicate and important for his brain development. The love, security and bonding received during this period determine his mental structure. If a child has to face violence or negligence during this time, it can have an impact on his entire life.
Government should make strict rules for day care
The doctor appealed to the government to make strict rules for day cares to prevent such incidents. He said that there should be compulsory licensing and regular inspection of day care centres. Only trained and certified staff should be employed in the centres. Every day care should have CCTV cameras and recordings should be preserved. Heavy fines and license cancellation should be imposed for violation of rules.
Tips for parents
According to experts, to take care of children and to avoid such incidents, choose a daycare that has been running for a long time and has a good reputation. Where more children come and the safety standards are clear. The premises should be equipped with CCTV and parents can visit from time to time. Apart from this, talk to the child daily and keep an eye on his behavior. This incident is a warning that negligence in the safety of children can have serious consequences. Experts believe that only vigilant parents and strict government monitoring together can prevent such accidents.
