Famous faces are back in the classroom for charity as Romesh Ranganathan’s Parents’ Evening returns for its second season.
Host Romesh Ranganathan once again takes the helm, joined by his outspoken and witty mother Shanthi, who is never afraid to put him on the spot.
“Mum’s research into the pairs always throws up some weird nugget of information that is meant to be about them, but more often than not it ends up with her complaining about some failing of mine, like for example, me having a flat a***,” Romesh says.
Across five episodes, celebrity contestants are paired with a member of their own family for a playful but competitive quiz. The opener sees Gabby Logan and Krishnan Guru-Murthy tramp up with their daughters, Lois and Jasmine.
Meanwhile, Strictly Come Dancing star Pete Wicks partners with his mum, Tracey, who couldn't resist poking fun at him throughout the challenges.
For Krishnan, the format stirred school-day flashbacks as he admits he wasn't the best of students in school. He was even embroiled in discord with his teachers.

“I was not a model student," he says. "Some teachers really, really liked me and others really didn’t like me. I divided the staff room, I was a bit marmite for my teachers... I was a cocky kid,” he admits.
“I was argumentative from a very young age.” For Lois and Jasmine, meanwhile, it was a chance to reconnect. “They actually went to school together until they were 7,” Gabby says.
Other stars taking their seats alongside their mothers this season include Tom Allen, Fleur East, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Helen Flanagan, Layton Williams and Alex Brooker.
And Romesh relishes the mix of personalities and the stars’ competitive spirit. “It is very funny having older ‘kids’ in. Like Tom Allen and Pete Wicks with their mums," he says.

Some parents even got carried away throughout the game, letting their competitive streak slip. "A couple of the parents get quite competitive with their bids as well, which is really fun to see - Gabby Logan and Krishnan Guru-Murphy keep pushing each others’ bids up."
Still, even Romesh wasn’t ready for the occasional oversharing from eager parents. “Alex Brooker’s mum telling the audience about his delicate tummy,” he says.
Though he had to keep an eye on his mother Shanthi when Ridley’s Adrian Dunbar arrived on set. “Mum also very much enjoys having Adrian Dunbar on, who she’s decided is the new Richard Gere.”
Romesh Ranganathan’s Parents’ Evening returns Saturday 11th October on ITV1 and ITVX.
