In the ongoing second unofficial Test match between India A and South Africa A at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground in Bengaluru, wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel has emerged as a key player for India. Jurel scored an unbeaten 132 off 175 balls in the first innings, rescuing the team from a precarious position after early wickets.
Continuing his fine form, Dhruv Jurel scored another brilliant century in the second innings, facing 159 balls with 12 boundaries. His resilient batting helped India cross the 300-run mark and included a crucial 184-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Harsh Dubey. In the first innings, Jurel had scored his century when India was struggling at 7 wickets down for 126 runs, leading them to a competitive total of 255.
With these twin centuries, Dhruv Jurel has significantly boosted his claim for a spot in the Indian team ahead of the upcoming Test series against South Africa. Although Rishabh Pant is expected to return as the first-choice wicketkeeper, Jurel's impressive performance poses a strong challenge to Nitish Reddy, who was not heavily utilized as a bowler in the previous series. Considering his batting prowess, Dhruv Jurel could be a serious contender for inclusion in the playing XI.
