West Indies create a 42-year-old record
This was the first time in 42 years that a West Indies last-wicket pair stitched together such a strong partnership on Indian soil. The previous instance dates back to the 1983 Ahmedabad Test, when Winston Davis and Jeff Dujon added 51 runs for the 10th wicket. In Delhi, Justin Greaves and Jaden Seals broke that long-standing record with their gritty 79-run stand.

Greaves remained unbeaten on 50 off 85 balls, while Seals contributed a valuable 32 off 67 deliveries. Their defiant partnership took the team’s total from 311 to 390, frustrating the Indian bowlers and the home crowd alike.

A day to forget for Indian bowlers
For India, this performance was particularly disappointing. It marked the first time since 2013 that a foreign team managed to score over 350 runs in the second innings of a Test match in India. Moreover, this was the West Indies’ highest second-innings total against India since 2011 — and their best-ever 10th-wicket partnership against the hosts.

Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets each, while Mohammed Siraj took two. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar bagged one apiece.

India chase 121 for victory
Despite the setback, India remain in a strong position to win the match. The West Indies’ resistance only set a modest target of 121 runs for the hosts. With openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in good touch, and the middle order featuring KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan, India are expected to chase down the total comfortably on the final day.
