Lamine Yamal has confirmed that his romance with Nicki Nicole has come to an end. The Argentine singer was often seen at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in the early stages of the season, supporting the Barcelona wonderkid.
When the Catalan outfit demolished Olympiacos in the Champions League last month, Yamal celebrated his goal by blowing a kiss towards the stands. Many suspected the romantic gesture was directed at Nicole, who was seated alongside Raphinha and Dani Olmo.
Last September, the 25-year-old singer told journalists that she was completely smitten with the 18-year-old winger. Before a Desigual event to unveil their new 'Studio' range, Nicole said: "I'm very in love, very happy, very content. [He] taught me how to say t'estimo (I love you) in Catalan."
Nevertheless, the romance has now concluded, with Yamal claiming they have gone their separate ways. In a statement released to journalist Javi Hoyos on the Spanish television show 'D Corazon', as quoted by Goal, the Barcelona star said: "We are not together, but has not been because of any infidelity.
"We have simply separated, and that's it. Everything that is coming out has nothing to do with our relationship. I have not been unfaithful to him nor have I been with another person."
Yamal has been nursing a groin injury lately, identified as a type of pubalgia, which is the same chronic issue that Lionel Messi previously suffered from. Despite missing several matches this season, the Spanish international has still managed to score three goals and provide five assists in eight games across all competitions.
Ahead of Barcelona's showdown with Elche on Sunday evening, Hansi Flick gave an encouraging update on Yamal's condition. The Blaugrana boss stated that the young player is 'progressing well', even though he's still experiencing a 'bit of pain'.
"He's fine. Some days he still feels a bit of pain, but he's progressing well," Flick revealed. There are, however, concerns that the injury could hinder Yamal's development.
In a 2019 interview with Buenos Aires radio station 'Club 94.7', Messi discussed his struggles with 'pubalgia'. The Inter Miami star admitted: "Pubalgia is complicated.
"I suffer from it for a while now. I do little training, and I can not play all the games. It is not a problem that can be solved overnight. I feel better now, but I still have not recovered and I still need treatment."
