Window cleaning is often the most dreaded household task, requiring time and a variety of products. However, the cleaning guru behind the TikTok account @thecleaupcompany insists that all you need for "shiny" and "streak-free" windows is washing-up liquid.
She kicked off her video by exclaiming, "Oh my god, this is the best cleaning hack ever. So to clean windows, you don't need any window cleaner; all you need is Fairy Liquid (washing up liquid)-it's literally incredible." Demonstrating on windows with a "few marks," they applied dish soap to a damp microfibre cloth and rubbed it across the glass.
The Fairy Liquid was then buffed away with a dry microfibre cloth, leaving behind "brilliant" results.
The cleaner declared: "It's absolutely incredible. I won't ever use standard window cleaner again because this just works. Streak-free. Look how fast it works."
In the comments section, fellow cleaning enthusiasts shared their thoughts. @petersgirl01 claimed: "I've been doing this for 40 years." @philipsann88 agreed: "Same, always cleaned windows this way."
@stephenpayne522 added: "I use washing up liquid but use a spray bottle diluted with water so you get less streaks."
@michelleboom said: "This works like magic, and it takes me less than 15 seconds to do my bedroom windows."
@joannehughes2615 revealed: "This is how I always do my windows, haven't bought window cleaner in over 10 years."
@johns8870 revealed: "Window cleaners use washing up liquid most of the time. That's what I did when I was a window cleaner."
This technique doesn't merely clean windows - it also tackles a major issue homeowners face during chilly weather: condensation.
@losingwithlouise commented: "Brilliant for keeping condensation away as well."
@cenab added: "Stops condensation as well. Try it on your car windscreen too."
@lousonyak responded: "You should do this when condensation is on the windows. It works wonders."
The cleaning expert revealed that this trick can also be applied to shower screens, mirrors and gleaming glossy tiles.
