Lando Norris has gone top of the Formula One World Championship standings after triumphing in the Mexico Grand Prix. His McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri led the way after last weekend's United States Grand Prix, but is now in second behind his main rival.
The Brit enjoyed a relatively stress free afternoon after starting the race in pole positions, but just xxx points separates the two before the Brazilian Grand Prix in a fortnight. Joining him on the podium was Ferarri's Charles Leclerc in second and Max Verstappen of Red Bull after an intense final battle
Lewis Hamilton endured a fierce battle with the latter and he was forced to serve a 10-second penalty after gaining an advantage over Verstappen by leaving the track. That resulted in Oliver Bearman, Oscar Piastri, Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, in that order, all finishing above the seven-time world champion.
It was a particularly superb drive from Bearman who was able to hold off Piastri after he overtook both Antonelli and Russell in the final few laps. It was not enough to keep him top of the standings however...
