Man Utd's strongest starting XI as Ruben Amorim secures six new transfers

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim will have a clear vision of his strongest team after welcoming six fresh faces to the club this summer. The Red Devils spent over £200million in the transfer window to rectify last season's failings, which saw them miss out on European football.

Approaching his first year anniversary at the helm of United, having joined from Sporting CP last November, Amorim will be hopeful that his new signings will provide long-term solutions for the club. There was considerable excitement surrounding United's potential new attacking trio of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and forward Benjamin Sesko. In addition, young talents Diego Leon and Enzo Kana-Biyik also made their way to Old Trafford during the summer.

The £18.2m signing of goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day could turn out to be Amorim's most crucial acquisition, considering Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana's early-season errors. Here, we look at what Amorim's preferred line-up might look like following the end of the transfer window.

Goalkeeper

The goalkeeping conundrum is one of the most interesting aspects of Amorim's team. Bayindir has been favoured over Onana in the initial matches, but United's pursuit of a new keeper speaks volumes.

Lammens was United's preferred target, despite Emiliano Martinez's eagerness to join the club. The Argentine reportedly had chats with Amorim earlier this summer and was absent from Villa's loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday, but no deal came about as Lammens secured his move to United.

The Belgian still poses a gamble for the Red Devils. The 23-year-old is seen as a player who can mature into being United's No.1, but he only spent last season as first choice at Antwerp. However, given United's readiness to sign a new keeper, it appears Lammens would be part of Amorim's strongest team.

Defence

When it comes to the defence, Amorim has already demonstrated his preferred back three for his 3-4-3 formation, selecting Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw in every league match so far this season.

However, that back three could be changed at a later date when Lisandro Martinez eventually returns from injury, while Harry Maguire has also performed well when called upon by Amorim.

Wingback presents another dilemma for Amorim. Patrick Dorgu would be an obvious choice on the left side, despite being benched for Diogo Dalot against Burnley at the weekend.

In arguably United's best performance so far this season against Arsenal, Dalot started on the opposite flank. However, Amad may ultimately be favoured on the right to provide the team with more attacking flair. Meanwhile, Dalot will be able to provide cover in both wingback positions.

Midfield

In the middle of the park, Amorim has chosen a pairing of Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in all three league matches this term, leaving Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo with a lack of game time.

Despite calls for Mainoo, who had requested a loan move, to be given more game time under Amorim, the United manager prefers Casemiro's experience and the creative spark Fernandes can provide from a deeper midfield position.

Forwards

Further up the pitch, new signings Mbeumo and Cunha have made promising starts to their United careers. Mbeumo has already secured one of the spots, wthree forwardhile Amorim also has a soft spot for Mason Mount, pushing Cunha into a more central striker role.

However, it seems likely that Mount will lose his starting place when the boss begins to put his trust in new striker Sesko. The Slovenia international scored 39 times in 84 appearances at RB Leipzig.

United snapped up Sesko in a deal potentially worth £74m from Leipzig, but Amorim has been cautious with the forward. The 22-year-old has come off the bench in all of the club's league games so far, but is the most recognised centre-forward in the United squad.
