PATNA: Tejashwi Yadav of RJD vowed Sunday to send "all goondas to jail" once he takes oath as Bihar's CM on Nov 18, alleging that opposition functionaries were being "murdered in broad daylight" on NDA's watch. He was referring to the killing of strongman-politician Dularchand Yadav in Mokama - a constituency now gripped by a high-voltage contest between rival musclemen.
"Din-dahade vipaksh ke logon ko goli mari ja raha hai aur sarkar suraksha de rahi hai. Tejashwi sarkar ke aate hi aise goondon ko jail me dalenge (Opposition members are being shot in daylight and govt is protecting the criminals. Once Tejashwi's govt comes, such goons will be jailed)," he said at a rally in Sonepur, urging people to stay united and form their "own govt".
JDU candidate Anant Singh faces RJD's Veena Devi, wife of ex-MP and strongman Surajbhan Singh in Mokama.
At his Mokama rally, Tejashwi reiterated that he would take oath as CM on Nov 18 - four days after the results - asserting INDIA bloc was poised to win. "Between Nov 26 and Jan 26, all corrupt people and criminals will be in jail," he said. "Just give me one chance. You gave NDA 20 years. Why can't you give me 20 months?" asked the opposition's CM face.
Promising a govt job for every family, Tejashwi said his battle was not against any caste or religion, but against "poverty, unemployment, migration, inflation, and corruption". "Sabko saath lekar chalenge (We will carry everyone along)," he said, pledging inclusive development and transparency.
He accused NDA of shielding criminals while branding the previous RJD govt as "jungle raj". "What exists now is maha-jungle raj. Several murders have taken place across Bihar, but the PM remains silent," he alleged. He also dismissed PM Narendra Modi's recent promise of one crore jobs over five years, saying: "He ignored employment for 11 years but now suddenly remembers Bihar's youth. No one believes these empty promises anymore."
In a pointed reference to the family feud in Mahua, Tejashwi ended days of speculation by publicly urging voters to support the official RJD candidate Mukesh Kumar Raushan over his estranged elder brother Tej Pratap. "Work hard for the victory of the RJD candidate from Mahua. There must be no confusion... Lalten jalega tab na Tejashwi sarkar banayega (Tejashwi's govt will be formed only when the lantern [RJD symbol] burns bright)," he said.
Tej Pratap was expelled from RJD earlier this year after controversies over his personal life. He is contesting from Mahua under his new Janshakti Janata Dal banner and has threatened to campaign against Tejashwi if he visits the constituency. Sister and MP Misa Bharti has extended "blessings and best wishes" to both brothers.
Tejashwi made his first appearance in Mahua during this campaign, promising improved education, infrastructure, and employment if voted to office. "This time, people will write Bihar's new story - one without fear, corruption, or migration," he said.
