US President Donald Trump refuted a report that he told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to be “so f–king negative” after Hamas accepted key parts of his Gaza peace deal.
While talking to reporters, Trump said, "No, it’s NOT true… he’s been positive," and added, "Israel’s been GREAT"
Earlier, a report came claiming that Trump reportedly reprimanded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the latter’s scepticism regarding Hamas’s partial acceptance of the 20-point Gaza peace plan.
The exchange occurred as Hamas indicated its willingness to release hostages under Trump’s initiative, sparking cautious optimism for the cessation of the Gaza conflict.
Trump urged Netanyahu to view the developments positively, stating, "I don't know why you're always so negative. This is a win. Take it," according to Axios, which cited two American officials familiar with the call.
An official with knowledge of the discussion told Axios, "Bibi told Trump this is nothing to celebrate, and that it doesn't mean anything." The president reportedly reiterated his earlier remarks as he called Netanyahu to convey the "good news." Last Monday, Trump unveiled a 20-point plan aimed at securing the release of the remaining hostages held in Gaza and ending Israel’s military campaign against Hamas.
At least 20 hostages are believed to be alive in Gaza, while approximately 25 others have been confirmed dead. Hours after Trump warned on social media that an agreement must be reached within days or Hamas would face "all HELL," the group announced on Friday its readiness to release all hostages under the terms of the plan.
Trump's proposal entails exchanging the hostages for 250 Palestinian prisoners held in Israel and 1,700 Gaza residents detained during the conflict. The president welcomed Hamas’s response, stating the group was "ready for a lasting PEACE" in a social media post.
